One in three (35%) working people suffer moderate to severe depression or severe anxiety – three times higher than the estimated UK adult prevalence. You are not alone. Studies suggest that one in six of us is currently struggling with mental health, the figure was one in ten before the pandemic.
Raising awareness about mental health is a positive step forward, however we now need to actively move from a superficial, surface level understanding into actual utilisation of this information to make real change in the workplace and change the dysfunctional systems that are at the root cause of the problem.
Are your staff speaking up? How is your organisation actively supporting staff in being able to voice their struggles without fear of stigma?
