What is On My Shelf!

What’s in your medicine cabinet, and why?

I take Magnifood Full Spectrum Multi Vitamin Complex and Magnifood Resistance Support Complex food supplements daily to help prevent me from catching coughs and colds.

If  I do feel a sniffle coming then I use Echinacea Drops by Echinaforce, A.Vogel to boost my immune system.

What’s good in your fridge, and why?

Japanese miso paste.  I spent 3 years living in Japan and developed a love for the stuff – it’s a bit like marmite in the sense that you either love it, or hate it!  I really like the one made by Clearspring.

Mix with water to make a light soup, spread it on toast or add to eggs, fish, mushrooms or tofu. Yum!

What’s your favourite exercise?

I love martial arts, but with a baby it can be tricky to get out to evening classes, so I pop on a Tae Bo DVD for some kicking fun :)  I first discovered Tae Bo back in the 90’s and all these years on Billy Blanks is still my favourite combat exercise class instructor!

What’s a real foodie treat? bananabread

I love home made banana bread with Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream.  Here’s the recipe I’ve been using for over 14 years!

1 Cup Sugar

1 tsp Butter

2 Eggs

1 tsp Baking Soda

2 Cups flour

4 Very ripe bananas mashed

Mix all ingredients together.  Put in a greased loaf tin.  Bake at 350 °F/ 175 °C for 40 minutes or until the top turns golden brown and splits.

What’s your favourite drink?

I love a cup of black Twining’s Earl Grey tea first thing in the morning.  I also really enjoy their Green Tea range.  I always make sure I drink plenty of water throughout the day and if I want a treat I’ll have a gin and slimline Indian tonic water, glass of Merlot red wine or a light fruity white.

What makes you happy?

Being with people who love what they do and do what they love.  They glow from the inside and feel so good to be around.

What’s the secret of a good night’s sleep?

Disconnecting from emails and text messages at least an hour before bed.  I also love having a soak in a hot bath with Neale’s Yard lavender sea bath salts.

What stresses you how do you cope?

“Too much to do in too little time” I focus on the most important thing and forget the rest, somehow it all gets done that way.

Any childhood remedy that still works for you?

Hot water bottle and cucumber sandwiches.  My mum used to give me them as a child and they always made me feel better.
